Tigers have extremely complicated medical needs and it can be nearly impossible to find a veterinarian to care for a large cat, outside of a zoological facility. Just like the smaller, domesticated cat, tigers must be vaccinated against common diseases including rabies and distemper. Tigers can also acquire FIV, or feline immunodeficiency virus, which can open the door to a range of new health concerns, making tigers even more susceptible to diseases due to a weakened immune system.Further still, tigers are susceptible to contracting dangerous diseases such as feline leukemia, which can be deadly without receiving the appropriate medical care. Luckily, there are alternatives to pet seekers wishing to find a pet outside of the normal scope of cuddly critters. If you are interested in owning a large cat that differs from the run-of-the-mill Tabby, consider a Norwegian Forest Cat.These cats are domesticated, and well suited to life as a pet. However, these cats are much larger than your average house cat, and still have hints of the wild demeanor of their ancestors. Plus, Norwegian Forest Cats are quite large, with many cats weighing over 20 pounds and 18 inches in length. These cats will certainly turn heads, while still being able to live comfortably in your home. There are also other hybrid species of domesticated cats that are closely related to their wild cousins. These cats offer a unique look and personality, while still being safe and loving domestic pets. Because these cats are bred with their wild cousins, it is important to fully research each breed of hybrid cat to learn about the specific care requirements for each unique species. While these cats are acceptable alternatives to a wild cat, there are still behavioral and dietary requirements to consider before adopting a hybrid cat. Tigers are wild and beautiful creatures that are best left in their native habitats where they are free to explore and live a natural life. Maintaining a tiger as a pet is not only dangerous for humans, but can be disastrous for the overall health and happiness of the tiger. Luckily, there are some cat breed alternatives that can still give owners the feel of owning an exotic cat, with the ability to easily care for a domesticated pet.Pet Assure is the largest veterinary network in the U. Tiger Habitat Needs First and foremost, a tiger is a wild animal. The results of his experiment show a number of behavioral, morphological. In short, the animals at his facility have begun to undergo a number of the changes hypothesized by Charles Darwin to occur through domestication.Foxes, after all, are nothing like lions, tigers, and bears. When we look at diet, growth rate, disposition, reluctance to breed in captivity, social hierarchies, and their tendency to panic or flee, they are somewhat close to that of a dog. However, for larger exotic animals, the disparities between the wild animals and domesticated cats or dogs are massively vast. It is our responsibility to ensure those animals are given a safe haven. Although domesticated animals may very well retain some of their wild instincts, the ramifications of simply letting them all run free would be devastating. On the flip side, the consequences of taking free animals out of their natural habitat especially animals like tigers and lions that are endangered and forcing them to live in a cage in our backyards as pets is equally devastating. There are many biological and evolutionary differences between our domestic cats and dogs and wild tigers, lions, monkeys, and reptiles. We need to respect the fact that just because humans can hand-rear lion cubs does not mean that they will lose their heightened adrenal glands that drive them to hunt, or that their perfectly evolved teeth and claws will cease to be a threat. There is an indisputable difference between owning a dog or cat and confining a lion or tiger to a captive life. All wild animals should be able to live, well, in the wild.Thousands of years ago wild animals were domesticated out of necessity, and despite many failed attempts by exotic pet owners to prove otherwise, domesticating wild animals at this junction is nothing more than self-gratification. Our energy and our focus should be on the conservation and survival of a species—particularly of endangered species—not on attempts to domesticate those that cannot be.Being publicly-funded gives us a greater chance to continue providing you with high quality content. Even so, escaping is no big feat for them. And once a tiger escapes your compound, its main target will be any humans in sight. If it gets bored, its health will start depreciating, and the chances of it trying to run away will be higher. Although the amount they eat varies depending on the species, in the wild, tigers can generally eat up to 88 pounds of meat for a single meal. A single kill can provide them with a feast for a few days, and they can go without hunting for around days after that.Apart from that, tigers bred in captivity lack essential nutrients that need to be added to their diet in the form of supplements. The sick pleasure of controlling a tiger comes with a very large price tag.Tigers are also susceptible to illnesses like rabies, etc. They may also suffer from life-threatening illnesses like feline leukemia virus, which can lead to cancer. Tiger cubs are dependent on their mothers for milk and food initially and are also licked clean by their mothers, which is beneficial for their health. Taking them out of their natural habitat and trying to tame them can make them weaker and smaller than their wild relatives.

Ruston, Louisiana. I would not tumble loaded rounds for this reason, with some powders you will wear small flecks off of the powder granules and create powder dust and you might change the burning characteristics of the powder. In other words you might end up with a slightly faster burning powder that may generate higher pressure than you may want. My vote would go with the polishing wool. If there were any signs of corrosion on the interior of the cases, I would knock the primers and clean the cases any way you want to.I would not worry with saving the primers, I say that because I know people that use to save live knocked out primers and reuse them. A practice that I don't even want to think about. Good shooting, Marcus. Joined: Nov Are you sure you want to deprime live primers? I have done a few, with never a mishap, but with a greatly increased pucker factor each time I did it. I finally decided that the fear of one going off was not worth it. I am a firm believer in if there is a way for something to go wrong, sooner or later it will.If the inside of the case is clean, then I would just clean the outside as suggested above and load the cartridges normally. I don't know of a way to make sure all the tumbling media is out of the flash hole, if you decide to go this way. Never had one go off, but I always wear a face shield, gloves, ear plugs, and use to wear forearm guards turned around to protect the inside of my arms.I have inherited many of my Dad's friend's reloading stuff before or after they have passed away and have incorporated a lot of their brass, dies, presses, and a few of their guns along with my loading and hunting hobby. Garrett died for nothing because rats had gotten into the brass and set up house keeping and raised a family. It was all primed brass and other than rat pee and dust it was fine. I used a Lee tool, a plastic hammer, drilled a hole into a 2 by 4 and set the base in the 2 by 4 put it over a 5 gallon bucket with about a gallon of water in it and knocked out live primers for days. Then I took the brass and ran it in a display dishwasher and it was ready to use. But, I would agree with you one will go off sooner or later, but I have set them off on purpose just to see how much they will do and it was not as much of a pop as I had expected.I will state I do not recommend this as an everyday practice, but I do it when I need to. Don't see any reason why it wouldn't work with primed brass. The key elements in human thinking are not numbers but labels of fuzzy sets. Zadeh Which explains a lot. Marcus: I haven't deprimed near that many, but I have deprimed a few, and never had one go off. It is just the fear of what might happen every time I do it that makes me nervous, and the reason I don't do it any more.I do not like to waste anything, but now I fire them in tmy rifle. Cuts down on the anxiety. The ones I deprimed, I used the full length sizer and decapping rod. With the end of the die being closed by the decapping rod, whatever pressure it puts out is going to come back through the primer pocket, blowing the primer out.I laid a thick cloth over the press, but the primer could still come back out through the slot for the primer arm, with enough force for the cup to penetrate your skin, if your leg was close to the slot. Your way sounds safer. I had a large quanty of shotgun shells that were messed up for one reason or the other. I cut them open and salveged the shot, wad, and powder, but I didn't want to mess with the primer.I had a 55 gallon steel barrel that I used to burn trash in. I built a hot fire put some primed shell bases in the barrel. Where I did it, even if a battery cup came out the top of the barrel, there was nothing around for it to hurt, and I don't think it would have enough force to penetrate the sides of the barrel.I didn't put but four or five in the fire at one time, so I could count them as they went off, then after the last one, I would pitch four or five more into the barrel. I did it this way so I would know when they all fired. I didn't want to accidently leave a live one in there to go off while I was burning trash, and perhaps looking into the barrel.Originally Posted by Marcus. Better than the concrete floor, because you don't have to bend over.Or, your wife can suck one up into a vacuum cleaner if you load in a spare room with carpet. Not only does this produce a loud bang, it also produces enough mouth to last a lifetime. It might have been a. I'm not sure. I am sure about the mouth, though.Don't ask how I know. GA, USA. God, Family, and Country. Will do. From what I've read there is case thickness and throat tolerances to be concerned about. Again, I didn't know if it was a safety concern or a precision decision. The only downside I've found to decapping crimped primers is they get too deformed to reuse. The cup diameter narrows and they have no pocket tension. Totally agree with MarkM - load it and shoot it.Our bolt gunsmith encouraged us to run out to 1. He said it'd make for more accurate ammo. Amen - the reloading books all quote very very conservative numbers so any neophyte won't inadvertantly crimp his case neck into the bullet while chambered - it really is ridiculous how much they advise to trim. Same same with load data - for shits and giggles look at OLD reloading manuals to see how far the books have backed off on loads - especially prevalent in handgun data. It's a shame too. People won't take the load max data serious when you nerf it. I don't recommend newer loaders do this I just wanted to update the thread. My WTF came today. I ordered it on Wednesday afternoon on amazon. That thing is a dream. The only reason I'm here writing this is I drained two 18v dewalt batteries. I never experienced this with my old lee trimmer. My hands would give out and cramp before I got through one battery. I want to thank everyone for your help! I trimmed to 1. Did about of them.My ready to load bin is looking very good. I hope I never get primed brass ever again. I didn't like how some of the case necks were smushed. I threw out some that I know a resizing die would fix. Thanks everyone! I'll take that perfectly usable primed brass off your hands. Maybe already covered: One reason the cases may have measured long could be the result of the primer. Always best to measure case length sans primer fired or live. Could be just enough primer material exposed to mess with your calipers. But knowing me, I also might have lightly lubed the necks and ran them through a backed out and seldom used Dillon trim die - no trim motor. Just to tweak the necks - and only because I already have one in a spare tool head.Better with some extra tension than not enough the Dillon trim die takes case necks down a little more than standard Edit: Worst case scenario, there is a Giraud case trimmer in the garage that can solve any such problems in a heartbeat. Food for the future. Don't toss new brass with dented case mouths unless they are badly damaged.I have loaded new brass that required straightening the case necks and it worked just fine. Max for. Sucks for you but get it done. If you must deprime to do it- do it! Depriming live primers is not an issue, been doing it for many years never had a problem. Jez-Louise - my point that you don't want to understand is: 1. He won't reliably know the case length unless he decaps the live primer first - at least on a few samples. Been there done that, btw. And it's not a big deal as has been mentioned by several.Just use some common sense - with eye protection being the first of several. And point number 2 - If you reload especially on a progressive , you will see high primers from time to time. The Huge Difference is in one that will A : cause a stoppage or worse and should not be loaded in a firearm - assuming you even see it first ; and B : one that's a blond one high and can be fired rather than scrapped.Of course it's anyone prerogative if they want to be so safe they never cross the street. Would suggest getting a Sinclair Chamber Length Gage Insert to determine the length of [U]your[U] chamber and trim your cases accordingly. You will likely find. I'm only using this on 'blaster' ammo. Let me enlighten you 1. I'm glad the op took the good advice an trimmed his cases.Atleast he'll know there little chance he'll hurt his gun or himself with some of the bad advice given. That's the closest I could get the trimmer adjusted. Man that thing works like a charm. I'm glad I had 3 dewalt 18v batteries and 2 chargers.I was hammering through them. I didn't want to go through rounds wondering "what if this cartridge is the one" lol. I don't quite have enough experience yet to know what needs to be done for safety and what needs to be done for just accuracy just yet so I kinda take every process very seriously. No one I know reloads so The Internet is my only mentor. One day I would like to experiment and get that perfect load set for each gun but right now, I have a very few recipes and they work so I don't stray away from those. One of those things is case length. I've only used cases trimmed to 1. Lol Plus, this site has gotten me to buy pretty bcm rifles so I don't want to put e fuel in them so to speak. Thanks everyone for leading me to do things right! Black hills has sold gazzilions of rounds of ammo ridiculously beyond the 1. Ideally, YES. Search titles only.New posts. Search forums. Log in. I assembled these with a Lee Loader as in the type you hammer the brass into using once fired brass, and loaded with grn Hornady interlocks. The OAL for each of these is 2. I trimmed and chamfered all of my cases before neck sizing, priming, charging and bullet seating each one individually. I am planning to pull the bullets. Should I attempt to de-prime the cases once I have done so? Should I just attempt to use the de-priming pin and knock the still live primers out. If I do this without causing detonation, can the primer be re-used at under 4p a pop, should I care weather or not the primer can be re-used?
